About the event
1. Purpose:
The act enables designated members of a church or place of worship to carry firearms for the protection of the congregation and to resist any unlawful attempt to commit a violent felony upon a member or attendee within the church premises.
2. Eligibility for Immunity:
Participants in the security program must possess a valid firearms permit issued under Section 45-9-101.
They must complete an instructional course in the safe handling and use of firearms as described in Section 97-37-7.
The church must maintain a record of the designated security program members, which must be made available to law enforcement upon request during investigations.
